The Upper Antelope Canyon was the most beautiful natural creation I have ever seen. This only one of the three canyons of the Antelope. Unfortunately my friend and I decided to tour it at 3 and missed the noon beam of light from the sun.

'Antelope Canyon was formed by erosion of Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to other sub-aerial processes. Rainwater, especially during monsoon season, runs into the extensive basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors deeper and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic 'flowing' shapes in the rock.

Flooding in the canyon still occurs. A flood occurred on October 30, 2006 that lasted 36 hours, and caused the Tribal Park Authorities to close Lower Antelope Canyon for five months. ' -wikipedia

"By setting up his own bed and personal items inside the museum, Milner creates a place that firmly blends private and public spheres, melding behavioral patterns usually reserved for one or the other. For the duration of the exhibition (July 21st-July 23rd) – from Thursday until Sunday evening – Another Room at BMoCA will become Milner’s home base. From here he will leave to go about his day, rest between appointments, or meet with visitors. He will also sleep at the museum at night."

Vistiors would leave him notes, food and drink in support of his work.

The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse | July 2011

In 1987, during his first visit to Boulder, Mayor Maksud Ikramov announced that Dushanbe planned to present our city with a Teahouse to celebrate the establishment of sister city ties. From 1987 -1990, more than 40 artisans in several cities of Tajikistan created the decorative elements our Teahouse, including its hand-carved and hand-painted ceiling, tables, stools, columns, and exterior ceramic panels. Often these skills are handed down from generation to generation within families. Lado Shanidze served as chief architect.

Eight colorful ceramic panels, created by Victor Zabolotnikov, grace the building's exterior and display patterns of a "Tree of Life" enclosed by a mihrab motif (a niche in a mosque indicating the direction of Mecca.) Inside the Teahouse are eight large, intricately carved white plaster panels, designed and executed by Kodir Rakhimov, whose contemporary oil paintings are framed by this art of Persian antiquity. The central pool features seven hammered copper sculptures by Ivan Milashevich, based on a 12th century poem, "The Seven Beauties", in which a princess from each of seven different nations narrates a fable that expresses important cultural values.

In Central Asia, teahouses serve as gathering places where friends meet to talk or play chess over a cup of tea. Many teahouses are traditionally decorated with Persian art, characterized by the use of motifs from nature - stellar, solar, and floral, by the repetition of patterns, by form over representation and pattern over detail, and by lavish decoration and color. Our Teahouse accurately reflects this artistic tradition that dates back nearly 2,000 years. The master woodcarvers, including Manon Khaidarov and Mirpulat Mirakhmatov who helped reassemble the Teahouse here, have carved their names in the ceiling. The artisans who have painted it have written their names on a green painted area above the entry to the kitchen. A message carved in the ceiling reads "artisans of ancient Khojand whose works are magical".

In the 7th Century BC, the area we now know as Tajikistan was settled at the eastern periphery of the Persian Empire. Situated a bit south of the Silk Road trails, the area has seen invasions by Alexander the Great, Mongols, Arabs, Turks, and Russians. Today, Tajikistan, with a population of 7 million, is about the size of Iowa, and is bordered to the east by China, to the north by Uzbekistan and Kyrgystan, and to the south by Afghanistan. At the western end of the Himalayas, its terrain is 93% mountainous, with peaks towering to 24,000 feet. The Tajik language is like Persian. Prior to being named capital to the Soviet Republic of Tajikistan in 1929, Dushanbe, which signifies Monday, was a village of 400 - 600 people and was the site of the weekly bazaar, held on Mondays. Dushanbe now has a population of 600,000 and its people are struggling with the aftermath of civil war following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.

The tea menu consists of 100 different kinds of tea leaves. This is the most beautiful tea house I have ever been to. A MUST see if you plan to visit Boulder, Colorado.

Today I spent in downtown Atlanta. It was the first time I had ever been to Atlanta even though I am from Georgia. It was hot but incredible. There is so much to do here and the aquarium is quite relaxing. I definitely suggest going there. The best part about Atlanta is seeing the 1996 Olympic torch Park.

Today Blakely is bee catching and exploring photography. She was fearless and very excited about catching this red bee that was flying around. Her mom Heather is scared of bees so Blakely volunteered to catch it so it won't sting her. She is nothing but smiles and intelligence.

Absolutely brilliant three year old.

She was very interested in the lens and when I held the camera up to my face she kept asking me if the lens was my eye. I kept telling her that it wasn't but she was very convinced that it was so kept looking in it to see. I gave her my Canon A1 film camera to take photos and I captured what could be the next photographer in the family. I will post the pics once I get the film developed.

She was a little difficult to photograph because she kept moving every time I tried to take a photo of her. So I told her to look into the lens to see if she can see my eye which caught her interest and I was able to snap this shot.

Family has the greatest affect on you than anyone you will come in contact with whether it is a great or unfortunate experience. No matter what happens they help you become who you are today. I never met my Uncle TJ or my mother's dad Joe. As I grew up I became more curious about where I came from...the family I never met. I visited my great aunt and uncle who I haven't been close to but I had loads of questions that I hoped could be answered. They were happy to converse with me even though we had only seen each other about three times since I've been alive. Not only did they help ease the the curiosity about my family roots but they gave me photos that showed how I got my physical features and to have those features makes me feel that I am apart of something incredible and I would love to share it with you.
